Hospital Objectives:

Aims to expose medics (both students and professionals’) to Tanzanian hospitals and health system for exchange of knowledge and learning purposes.

Dates: From June 26^th onwards

1. Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC, www.kcmc.ac.tz)
2. Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre (ALMC- Arusha, www.almc.or.tz )
3. Haydom Hospital (Karatu, www.haydom.or.tz )

Requirements to join the visit:

• Medical students: will require supporting letter from the university
• Qualified healthcare practitioners: will need a letter from their respective institutions

In addition:

Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC)

Currently this Hospital is fully booked

• Location: is 2.5hrs(82.7km) away from Arusha and public transport is available at cost 4$ per person or hire a vehicle at own expenses.
• KCMC is able to host 15-20 people for 3-5 days
• Rotations available are of your choice
• Accommodation facility is available within the hospital premises. It can accommodate 18 people at a discounted cost of 26$ per day (cost can be shared per room).
• Food is available at local canteen at relatively affordable price.
• One will require to send a copy of visa page of the passport to [email protected] one week before the visit
• No costs for the purpose of visiting

Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre (ALMC)

• Located at the center of Arusha
• will be able to host 5-10 people for 3-5 days
• Rotations available are of your choice
• Require visa (official document to be in the country)
• No accommodation provided by the hospital
• Cost of visit is 200$-300$

Haydom Lutheran Hospital

• Locate in Karatu, 261km from Arusha
• Can be accessed via road or airplane
• MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) has agreed to fly people interested to go there for a share cost.
• Requirements: Official document to be in the country
• Accommodation will be available from 28^th June, costs are 25$ per night for single occupancy and 20$ per double occupancy
• No cost of visiting

Karatu hospital

• Is in Karatu, 146km from Arusha.
• It hosts 10-15 people for 3-5 days
• The rotations available are IM, Paeds, Surgery and Obs/gyn
• Requires official documents to be in the country
• No accommodation facility provided by the hospital
• No costs of visiting
