Healthcare Missions

The Objective of the workshop is to

  • Learn and explore together, concept of Mission and Health care missions
  • Reflect on various models, responses and from life stories
  • Consider a personal response based on the understanding of their nation and from life stories.

The curriculum will include the following:

  1. Revisiting the foundations – 4 hours
    1. Biblical basis of Missions
    2. Health Healing and Heart of God
    3. Work, vocation, profession, and heart of God
  2. Remembering the legacy – 2 hours
    1. History of Medical Missions
    2. Current day expressions and models
  3. Understanding the world around us – 2 hours
    1. Health of communities, health care access, the kingdom presence, gospel
    2. Case studies from emerging needs in the world
    3. Changing world and unchanging heart of God
  4. Practical issues of cross-cultural engagement – 2 hour
    1. Cultural, communication, language etc
    2. Resourcing and funding
    3. Community and missions, leadership in missions
    4. Caring for the care giver and his of her life long journeys
  5. Tools for decision making – 45 minutes
    1. How do you where to go, the how and what of decision making
  6. Holding all together and taking forward – 45 minutes
